Deschamps to Newcastle?
Didier Deschamps has been linked with the vacant Newcastle post. As earlier revealed exclusively to eyefootball.com, Deschamps is keen on making the move to the Premiership and was recently linked with the Chelsea job.
It appears that Gerard Houllier is out of the running for the Newcastle job, and the FFF president quipped: "I talked to Gerard by telephone - he is on business for us in the United States at the moment - and he told me 'every time an English club is in difficulty my name comes up'.
"Gerard had an extraordinary image in England, I'm flattered to hear his name all over the place, I tell myself we made the right choice, everyone wants to have him."
However, Deschamps has now been linked as the new favorite for the job after stints coaching Juventus and Monaco in recent years.
The World Cup-winning captain, once labelled "the water carrier" is reportedly ready for talks with the Newcastle board.
