Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has recommended the club's hierarchy to pursue a deal for Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri. Spurs are expected to bring in a new striker this summer in an attempt to lessen the burden on Harry Kane.
Calleri had been strongly tipped to make a move to Europe last summer with the likes of Chelsea, and Palermo being his main suitors.
According to The People, Pochettino has identified Calleri as the ideal player to accompany Kane in the attack front next season.
It is added that the 44-year-old has asked club chairman Daniel Levy to look into a contract agreement for the talented marksman.
The 22-year-old is unlikely to have any difficulties in securing a work permit as his grand parents are Italian.
Calleri, who is owned by an investment group, plys his trade on loan at Sao Paolo.
