Borussia Dortmund eye Gotze reunion

Borussia Dortmund are understood to have held secret talks with Bayern Munich over a move for former midfielder Mario Gotze. The German international has been the subject of speculation in recent months with Liverpool seemingly keen on acquiring his services.

Gotze joined the Bavarian giants from BVB in 2013, and many predicted he could be the next big thing in Germany.

However, he has failed to live up to his expectations since the 2014 World Cup success, and this has hampered his chances of earning a regular role at the Allianz Arena.

German source Abendzeitung suggests that BVB are ready to offer a lifeline to their graduate and have began initial negotiations with Bayern over a summer switch.

The 23-year-old has made just eight starts for the Bundesliga holders this season.
