Ben Arfa on Chelsea shortlist?

Chelsea have been linked with a surprise swoop for former Newcastle United midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa. The 29-year-old has had a new lease of life since his move to Ligue 1 with Nice last summer.

Ben Arfa joined the French minnows at the start of the season following a frustrating spell at the Magpies that saw him dropped to the reserve squad.

The France international has since then been a stand-out performer for Nice, who are eyeing an improbable Champions League place this term.

The Express says the Blues have joined the chase for the versatile attacker following news that he is available on a free transfer this summer.

League rivals Liverpool are also in the running to sign Ben Arfa.

Ben Arfa has netted 16 goals in the French league this term.
