Virgil van Dijk pens Southampton extension
Netherlands international Virgin van Dijk has inked a new deal to keep him at Southampton until the summer of 2022. The centre-back joined the South Coast outfit from Celtic last August.
Van Dijk, 24, has kept up his form throughout the campaign and this has played a crucial role in his side's rise to the top half of the league standings.
"I'm so pleased, I'm so happy. Me and my family have enjoyed it a lot this year. It's been amazing. It's only positive," he told the club's official website.
"The club is growing and I definitely want to grow with them, that's how I feel. Hopefully we can make it happen. That's the plan, to get a lot of achievements going."
Van Dijk looks set to make his 37th appearance of the season as his side take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
