Man Utd and Chelsea make Diarra offer

Lassana Diarra news

Diarra is attracting interest from Man Utd and Chelsea

Both Manchester United and Chelsea have made offers for French midfielder Lassana Diarra, according to reports.

BeIN Sports is reporting today that the two Premier League giants are set to do battle over Marseille's 31-year-old defensive midfielder.

Diarra still has 3 years remaining on his Marseille contract, but he is believed to have made an agreement with his employers that will enable him to leave the club for free this summer.

However, the French club are now apparently unwilling to allow the former Real Madrid and Arsenal midfielder to depart without receiving a transfer fee in exchange.

Diarra had a two year spell with the Blues between 2005 and 2007, although he only made 13 Premier League appearances for the club before being sold to Arsenal. But it now seems that new Chelsea boss is keen on bringing the combative Frenchman back to Stamford Bridge this summer.

And Diarra has previously worked under new United boss Mourinho while the two were at Real Madrid. The Portuguese tactician is thought to value Diarra's athleticism and tactical discipline, and is keen to make him part of his Old Trafford revolution.

Diarra was due to start for France at the ongoing UEFA European Championship in his home country, only to be forced to withdraw from Didier Deschamps' squad due to injury prior to the tournament, presenting Leicester City's N'Golo Kanté with the chance to take his spot.
