Neymar signs new 5-year Barcelona deal

Neymar will remain a Barcelona player

Brazilian superstar Neymar has put all speculation over his future to bed by signing a new 5-year contract with FC Barcelona.

The gifted forward is a vital part of Barça's MSN front line along with Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez and five-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi.

Speculation over a summer move for the 24-year-old had been rife, with reported interest from Paris Saint Germain, Manchester United and bitter rivals Real Madrid.

But Barcelona have managed to tie their key man down with a new deal to keep him at the club until 2021.

It was reported last week that United were willing to pay Neymar's €190 million release clause, and had even sent representatives to Brazil to try to convince the player to move to Old Trafford.

But the most likely option was always that Neymar would stay at the Camp Nou, and that has now been confirmed by the club.

The former Santos player will benefit from a bump in salary, while his new contract also includes a greatly increased buyout clause, which now stands at €250 million.

Barcelona will hope that this increased figure will put off any prospective interest from other European elite clubs.

Neymar is set to take part in the upcoming summer Olympics, where he will represent Brazil on home soil, as the Selecao look to earn Olympic gold in the football tournament for the first time ever.
