Everton seal Maarten Stekelenburg signing
Everton have wrapped up the signing of Fulham goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg for an undisclosed fee. The Netherlands international has penned a three-year contract at Goodison Park.
Toffees boss Ronald Koeman was expected to bring in a new shot-stopper with Joel Robles being the only reliable option for the number one role.
It has now been confirmed that Stekelenburg is the desired choice for Koeman given his good relationship with the player at former clubs Ajax and Southampton (season-long loan). He also becomes the Toffees' first arrival of the summer.
"I'm very happy - things have moved very fast over the last couple days," Stekelenburg told the club's official website.
"He [Koeman] has come to Everton and he called me a few days after asking if I was willing to follow him - it wasn't difficult to make that choice."
The 33-year-old owned the gloves for Holland during the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.
