Chelsea close in on Koulibaly

Senegalese centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly is nearing a move to Chelsea after they finalized a transfer agreement with Napoli. The 25-year-old was previously on the radar of Arsenal.

Koulibaly had been the subject of speculation over the past month with the Blues in advanced negotiations with Napoli for his signature

According to reports in Italy, the Naples outfit have opted to cash in on their star asset as they were reluctant to offer him terms over a new contract.

The Blues had initially failed with a £20m approach for the player, but with the fee being upped to £30m, the Serie A side were willing to do business.

The French-born star appeared in 33 league outings for Napoli last term as they finished runners-up to Juventus, thereby qualifying for the Champions League.
