Spurs had earlier failed with a £12m approach for the Netherlands international with interest high among the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham United.
However, with the player firm in his desire to join the North London outfit, Spurs managed to up their bid and negotiate a £16m sum for his services.
Janssen, dubbed 'the next Ruud van Nisterooy', has been tipped for amazing things following an excellent start to his international career - three goals in just five outings.
