Kanté agrees to €36m Chelsea move

Conte set to land Kanté

Leicester City midfielder N'Golo Kanté has accepted an offer from Chelsea, with the Blues set to seal a €36 million deal in the coming days, according to reports in France.

RMC are reporting that Kanté received Chelsea's offer recently but had asked for some time to think about his decision. But the 25-year-old has accepted Chelsea's offer, and could even undergo a medical with the Stamford Bridge club in the next 48 hours.

Kanté was a key figure in Leicester's miraculous Premier League title win last season, having joing the club from Caen for £7 million the previous summer. Kanté's performances earned him a nomination for the PFA Player of the Year award, as well as a call up to Didier Deschamps' France squad for the UEFA European Championship on home soil.

With Lassana Diarra ruled out with an injury, Kanté started the first four games for France at Euro 2016. However, the combative midfielder was substituted at half-time in the last-16 tie against the Republic of Ireland and did not start again as the home nation reached the final before eventually finishing runners-up to Portugal.

It has been speculated that Kanté's Leicester contract contains a release clause which Chelsea's offer will likely trigger, meaning the only stumbling block to the deal would have been whether the player was open to the move.

But that doesn't seem to be an issue, as today's reports suggest that Kanté is keen to join Chelsea, where he will work under new manager Antonio Conte.
