Drinkwater open to Foxes extension

Former Manchester United graduate Drink Drinkwater is willing to commit his future to Leicester City on a long-term contract.

The midfielder was one of the key performers for the Foxes, who went on to do the impossible and lift their first-ever league title last season.

The 25-year-old has now revealed his desire to pen a contract extension only if the club's hierarchy come forward with discussions.

"I am not going chasing the club. It is up to them to approach me. I would love to commit but I just want to play football," he told Sky Sports News.

"I'm still under contract so I can't really say too much but I'm a Leicester City player at the minute. It's up to them how they handle it."

Drinkwater has appeared in 175 games for the Premier League holders since his move from Old Trafford in 2012. He currently has two years left on his existing deal.
