Stoke City bid for Joe Allen

Stoke City have reportedly placed a £14m bid for Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen. The 26-year-old struggled to cement a regular place under Jurgen Klopp last season.

Allen was one of the bright lights for Wales at this summer's European championships, and this has caught the eye of several English clubs.

The Mirror says the Potters have lodged a £14m offer in an attempt to lure the player from Anfield in the current transfer window.

The Welshman is currently on a extended break after his exploits for his nation, and a decision is likely to be made at the start of August.

Champions League side Sevilla are also in the running to sign the former Swansea City man.

Allen featured in just half of the Reds' league games last season.
