Napoli are set to make a final take it or leave it offer of €60 million for Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi, according to reports in Italy.

Sport Mediaset is reporting that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is undeterred by the fact that Inter have already supposedly rejected four of his offers for Icardi, as the outspoken Partenopei president prepares a final offer of €60 million for the Agrentinian striker.

The former Barcelona youth player joined Inter from Sampdoria three years ago for a fee in the region of €12 million.

The one cap Argentina international has scored an impressive 47 Serie A goals in 87 appearances for the San Siro club, and was made club captain at the beginning of last season.

Napoli are on the hunt for a new striker following the sale of Gonzalo Higuaín to Juventus earlier this week.

Higuaín broke the all-time Serie A record for most goals in a single season during the last campaign, when he netted 36 times in 35 games to guide Napoli to second place in the race for the scudetto.

But champions Juventus made a stunning move to sign the former River Plate and Real Madrid player by agreeing to pay his €90 million release clause, making the 28-year-old the most expensive player in the history of Italian football, eclipsing Hernan Crespo's €56 million move from Parma to Lazio in 2000.
