Man Utd and Liverpool chase Brazilian star

The two rivals will battle it out for Brazil's Olympic star

Manchester United and Liverpool are set to go head to head in the race to sign Brazilian star Luan from Gremio, according to reports in Brazil.

Brazilian media outlet Zero Hora is reporting that Manchester United and Liverpool are both eying a move for Gremio midfielder Luan.

The 23-year-old have been outstanding for Brazil in the ongoing Rio Olympic football tournament, scoring five goals and assisting a further two to help his side reach the gold medal final. The Selecao have never won Olympic gold in their history, and are hoping to put that right on home soils as they face Germany in the final, in which Luan will again be a key figure.

It is being reported by Zero Hora that Gremio will want a fee of €45 million if they are to part ways with the player this summer, but, once the Brazilian season is over, they will be willing to accept bids of €30 million in January. It is also claimed that Luan’s current contract contains a buyout clause that would allow him to join a European club for €80 million.

It now appears that, following Manchester City’s capture of highly rated teenage forward Gabriel Jesus, Luan, along with international team mate Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa, could be the next young Brazilian start to make a big money move to Europe.
