Spurs interested in Man Utd midfielder
Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has emerged as a shock transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur could be set to make a surprise deadline day move to sign French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United.
Spurs initially tried to sign Schneiderlin from Southampton, but the Sainst refused to sell the Frenchman at the time, causing the player to vent his frustrations via social media.
And last summer it was United who won the race to sign the defensive midfielder, beating both Spurs and Arsenal to his signature in a £25 million deal.
But Schneiderlin has been unable to hold down a regular place and Old Trafford since making the switch from St. Mary’s, and, so far this season, he has not yet started a game under new manager José Mourinho.
It seems unlikely that United will be willing to allow Schneiderlin to leave at this late stage of the transfer window, as they will not have a great deal of time to seek a replacement, but that hasn’t deterred the White Hart Lane club from registering an interest in the man who helped Southampton rise from League One to the Premier League during his time on the South Coast club.
Spurs are also thought to be weighing up a second bid for Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko, after their opening offer of £16 million was rejected by the Magpies.
