Sunderland sign Victor Anichebe on a free
Sunderland have confirmed the arrival of former West Bromwich Albion striker Victor Anichebe on a Bosman. The Nigerian forward was out-of-contract following his release from the Baggies at the end of last season.
The 28-year-old, who previously joked on joining Arsenal on deadline day, has penned a one-year deal with the Black Cats.
The Wearside outfit were in desperate need of a new striker after Fabio Borini was ruled out for three months with a groin injury, and this led them to Anichebe, a player who has featured under David Moyes at Everton between 2006 and 2013.
"#SAFC have signed striker Victor Anichebe on a deal until the end of the season.pic.twitter.com/qOUyOOG14i" read a tweet on the club's official Twitter account.
Anichebe netted nine goals in 61 outings for West Bromwich Albion during a three-year stint.
