Axel Witsel sad on missing out on Juventus transfer
Axel Witsel is distraught on missing out on a deadline day move to Juventus, according to his father. The Belgian international was linked with the likes of Everton and Chelsea last month, but it was the Old Lady who had held a concrete interest in his services.
The Zenit St Peterburg midfielder was believed to be on the verge of joining Juventus last week before a disagreement over a transfer sum pulled the plug on the deal.
Witsel's father Thierry has now admitted that his son is upset with how the proceedings went, but he will be focused on resuming his duties at the Russian giants.
"I spoke with Axel and he told me he's logically disappointed even if he's okay. It will work out great. Sometimes, in football It doesn't always go well, in life things can happen." he told Gazzetta dello Sport
Zenit were holding out on a £20m fee for their asset despite him being in the final year of his contract. Witsel will now look to leave on a bargain price in January as he is unlikely to commit his future to Mircea Lucescu's side.
