Juventus eye January move for Man Utd defender
Juventus will attempt to sign Italian full-back Matteo Darmian from Manchester United in January, according to reports in Italy.
Calciomercato is reporting that Italian champions Juventus could be set to make a swoop for Manchester United right-back Matteo Darmian when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Darmian is yet to feature in the United side since José Mourinho became manager and was constantly linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, but no move for the 26-year-old materialised.
Juventus are believed to be in the market for a right-back, despite having signed Dani Alves from Barcelona during the transfer window. The Old Lady are reportedly willing to let 32-year-old Swiss full-back Stephan Lichtsteiner leave Juventus Stadium.
The fact that Darmian is also able to play as a centre-back in a back three, as well as either full-back role, will appeal to the Bianconeri.
Darmian only signed for United just over a year ago, joining from Serie A side Torino for £14 million. The former AC Milan defender had an impressive start to life as a Red Devil, but the 26-year-old was unable to sustain his early-season form and drifted out of the line up.
United boss Mourinho is believed to be interested in signing AS Monaco’s Brazilian right-back Fabinho, and Darmian’s departure could pave the way for United to make their move for the 22-year-old.
