Man Utd ready to sell Darmian in January

Matteo Darmian news

Could the sale of Darmian pave the way for a Fabinho bid?

Manchester United are prepared to sell Italian international defender Matteo Darmian in January, according to reports in Italy.

Tutto Mercato is reporting that Manchester United are prepared to sell full-back Matteo Darmian in the January transfer window, despite having only signed the 26-year-old in the summer of 2015 for £14 million from Torino.

Darmian was linked with a return to Serie A on loan last summer, with Roma, Napoli and Juventus all said to be interested in signing the player.

But no such move materialised and Darmian remains a United player. But the former AC Milan defender has not featured at all under new manager José Mourinho so far this season, and a move away from Old Trafford for the right-back seems highly likely in the near future.

Mourinho has instead opted to select Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia in the right-back position so far this season, and the former Wigan Athletic player earned a nomination for August player of the mont for his impressive performances.

But United could yet make a January move for Monaco’s 22-year-old Brazilian full-back Fabinho, as the Red Devils are said to be interested in the former Rio Ave defender.

Fabinho was linked with a £25 million move to Old Trafford throughout the summer transfer window. No bid was forthcoming but United are still believed to be interested in the player.
