Rooney has failed to start United's last 4 Premier League games.

Shanghai SIPG are interested in acquiring out-of-favour England captain Wayne Rooney in a deal that could be worth £80m, according to The Mirror.

He was reportedly approached 10 months ago, however he turned down the deal wanting to focus on his England and Man United career. Yet, with Rooney failing to start for England or Man United despite being captain of both teams, the deal looks more likely than ever.

Shanghai SIPG, who currently sit 4th in the table, spent £47m on Brazilian winger Hulk in the summer, have offered Rooney a £500,000-a-week deal to try to tempt him to China. Shanghai certainly have the money and the commercial motive to bring him to China, and it certainly looks like a probable deal.

The England captain's career seems to be on the downhill and he may seem China as an easy way out, and a final big money move.
