Serge Gnabry slams Arsenal
Werder Bremen forward Serge Gnabry has hit out at former club Arsenal, saying he has developed more in the last four months than he did during his entire Arsenal career. Gnabry spent five years at the Emirates Stadium.
Gnabry was allowed to leave Arsenal last summer after Arsene Wenger decided he could not persuade the German international to stay put.
The player told German publication Kicker that he failed to learn enough whlst at the Gunners: “It was the right decision. Everybody who compares my development over the last four months to my time in England before that can’t come to a different conclusion.
“That was the main reason for the transfer – I wanted to get more playing time and it worked. Arsenal wanted to keep me, badly. But I had to look after my development.
“If a player does not perform well, a club has no sympathy and they do not want to keep him.”
