Jurgen Klopp weighing up bid for Serie A star

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is set to lodge a late bid for Roma's Leandro Paredes following the club's lacklustre start to the New Year.

The Reds have won just a solitary game since the turn of the year that to being an unconvincing 1-0 victory over Plymouth in the FA Cup third round replay.

According to The Sun, Klopp has set his sights on bolstering his midfield this month following their recent slump which has seen them exit both the EFL Cup and the FA Cup.

The Reds also seem to have let their grasp on their Premier League challenge, and this is likely to urge the German to spend reasonably on a new addition.

Paredes, 22, is currently deemed surplus to requirements at the Stadio Olimpico, and Klopp would welcome the opportunity of offering him a fresh chance in the Premier League.

League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in Paredes, and the duo could as well compete for the player's signature ahead of Tuesday's 11 pm deadline.
