Schweini to stay - Mourinho

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that Bastian Schweinsteiger will not be leaving the club ahead of this week's transfer deadline.

The 32-year-old was in the cold for much of the season with Mourinho reluctant to offer the German a spot in his matchday squad.

Recent speculation has linked the World Cup winner with a potential move to Major League Soccer whilst several Chinese Super League clubs have also been credited with interest for the former Bayern ace.

Following an impressive 4-0 win over Wigan in the FA Cup, Mourinho confirmed his intention to keep hold of the veteran midfielder, who will be included in the Europa League squad for the knock-out stages.

Both Memphis and Morgan Schneiderlin were offloaded earlier in the transfer window, and this has freed up space for Schweinsteiger to fill up the squad.

Schweinsteiger made his first start in over a year against Wigan on Sunday where he found the scoresheet in the final minutes of the second half.
