Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has revealed that he would welcome a return to La Liga but only after he lifts the Premier League title at Old Trafford.

The Spain international has become a fanfavouriteat the Mancunian giants since his arrival from Chelsea in the winter of 2014.

When Jose Mourinho first arrived at United in the summer, there were initial fears the playmaker could be offloaded from the club.

However, Mata has managed to convince the manager of his abilities whilst also dismissing claims that he was at odds with the 54-year-old at Stamford Bridge.

While speaking to Sky Sports, the World Cup winner insisted that he still has the ambition of lifting the English crown with United before he decides over a potential switch back to his homeland.

"I would love to win it. I have been lucky enough to win so many trophies already," he told Sky Sports. "For me it’s very important not to relax as a professional footballer and think I’ve won trophies with great teams and that is success."

Mata started off his professional career with Real Madrid Castilla before he moved to Valencia in 2007. He followed to make his Premier League bow with Chelsea in 2011 where he won the prestigious Champions League in his debut campaign.
