EPL giants to battle for William Carvalho
Both Liverpool and Manchester City are said to be in the running to pursue Sporting midfielder William Carvalho in the summer.
The Portugal international has been constantly linked with a move to England despite the player stating his desire to remain at Sporting until he lifts the Primeira Liga.
Recent speculation suggested that the Citizens could be in the front seat to sign the Euro 2016 winner with Carvalho being represented by the agency owned by Pep Guardiola's brother.
However, according to A Bola, Jurgen Klopp's side are ready to offer stiff competition in the player's pursuit after it was revealed that Sporting would only sell at the right price.
Carvalho, 24, is currently contracted to Sporting until the summer of 2020, and this places the club in a good position to negotiate a fee for his services.
Fellow rivals Arsenal have been long linked with a move for the anchorman, but it appears that they are now settled with a midfield combination which is unlikely to be altered in the near future.
