Agent confident Ozil will ink Gunners extension

German international Mesut Ozil remains committed to Arsenal despite the recent criticism over his performances, agent Dr Erkut Sogut claims.

The 28-year-old has received most of the blame for the Gunners' 5-1 humbling versus Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but his representative feels the midfielder is being used as the scapegoat.

With less than 18 months left on his current contract, there have been suggestions that the World Cup winner could be sold, but according to Sogut, the player is 100 percent committed to the north London club.

"I don't think the criticism has affected his performance or his mental state," he told BBC Sport.

"Mesut is committed to the club. There is no doubt that he will perform at 100 percent, with total professionalism and commitment as long as he plays for Arsenal. Nothing will change that.

"He is sorry to the fans, and he's sorry that he and his teammates couldn't give the fans a better result in Munich."

Ozil had not come up with a similar tally of assists (18) as last season, but nevertheless, manager Arsene Wenger is said to back the German for the starting lineup.

Arsenal face-off against fifth-tier side Sutton United in the FA Cup on Monday night, and nothing less than a convincing win will do for the Gunners' faithful.
