Inter Milan in contact with James Rodriguez

Serie A giants Inter Milan have reportedly held secret negotiations with Real Madrid over a summer move for James Rodriguez.

The Colombia international was the subject of a £60m bid from the Nerazzurri last summer but he opted to snub their advances to remain with the European champions.

According to The Sun, the San Siro outfit have retained their interest in the talented attacker as they seek to tempt him with a fresh offer during the off-season.

Rodriguez has recently revealed his desire to stay put at Los Blancos, but the Nerazzurri are hoping to sign the 25-year-old, should they qualify for next season's Champions League.

Inter Milan are currently placed sixth in the league standings, but a win over Roma on Monday night could put within three points off the Champions League places.

Premier League leaders Chelsea were rumoured to be interested in a club-record deal for Rodriguez last month, but Los Blancos were hesitant to sell due to their ongoing transfer ban.
