Arsenal should take a gamble on Rooney - Redknapp

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp feels Arsenal should make a move for Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney at the end of the season.
The England international has been constantly linked with a move to the Chinese Super League despite the player himself ruling out the transfer this month.
Arsenal were criticised for the lack of leadership during the second-half of the 5-1 Champions League thumping against Bayern Munich, and Redknapp believes Rooney would provide the necessary qualities at the north London club.
Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger had agreed upon the signing of Petr Cech from Chelsea a couple of seasons ago, and Redknapp insists that the Gunners should take the gamble on the United outcast.
Rooney, who is currently approaching the final year of his £250,000-a-week contract, is also said to be a target for former side Everton. The veteran is United's all-time leading scorer with 250 goals across all competitions.
Arsenal are due to visit Liverpool in their next Premier League fixture on March 4, and they will have to be in the best of touch if they are to earn anything from the game.
