Chelsea to delay Antonio Conte extension

League leaders Chelsea are unlikely to make an official announcement over Antonio Conte's contract until the title race is settled.

The Italian manager has transformed the Blues into genuine title favourites following a mediocre campaign last season which saw them finish 10th in the Premier League.

The Blues currently hold a 10-point lead over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in the title pursuit, and they are in cruise control of the league barring a late collapse.

According to The Telegraph, the west London giants are confident of agreeing a suitable extension to the head coach's contract, but he will be allowed to concentrate on the season for the time being.

The Blues are due to host Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-final on Monday night, and Conte will surely have one eye on clinching a domestic double in what has been an impressive debut season for him in England.

Chelsea are said to have expressed interest in extending Conte's stay with amid claims that Inter Milan are prepared to lure him back to Serie A on a lucrative contract in the summer.
