Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he will need to strengthen his squad over the summer if he is to challenge for the Premier League title next season, and the latest name to be linked with his Liverpool team is a defender who currently plays his football for Real Madrid.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato had today reported that Real Madrid defender Danilo could be leaving the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season, with Liverpool leading the competition to sign him.

25 year old Danilo plays as a right full back, although he has played just nine times for the Spanish giants in La Liga this season, with an additional two starts in the Champions League.

The Brazil international has certainly developed the taste for success in Madrid, picking up winners medals in the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup last season, success that Klopp will hope can continue if he moves to Anfield.

If a deal is to be done for the right back, it is expected that Liverpool will have to pay in the region of £22 million, whilst also fighting off interest from Serie A club Juventus.
