Barcelona open to re-signing Everton star

Gerard Deulofeu news

Barca open to re-signing Deulofeu this summer

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has refused to rule out the possibility of re-signing Gerard Deulofeu at the end of the season. The 23-year-old joined AC Milan on a short-term loan after he fell out-of-favour at Everton.

Deulofeu struggled to firm a regular position under Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park and this urged him to switch to the Serie A where he had earned ample opportunities with the Rossoneri.

The former La Masia student has provided a goal and three assists in just nine outings for the San Siro outfit, and his form has been rewarded with a first call-up to the Spain squad since 2014.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Sport, Fernandez admitted that he is impressed with Deulofeu's development away from Goodison. He added that Barca currently have the first option of signing of Deulofeu for a fee of around £10.7m in the summer.

“We have the possibility and it's good,” Fernandez said, as reported by Sport.

“I am very happy with what's happening. Deulofeu was at Everton and not playing. He went on loan to Milan, where he's playing and has been called up to the Spain team.

“It's good news. I think it's €12m to bring him back.”

As things stand, Barcelona could probably re-sign Deulofeu during the summer transfer window before selling him on for a decent profit.
