Arsenal contract rebel linked with Barcelona
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil could make a surprise switch to Barcelona during the summer transfer window. The Germany international has shown no signs on extending his contract at the Emirates this season.
Ozil, 28, has not been in the best of form in the second half of the campaign, and this has seen him receive sound criticism from pundits as well as the club's faithful.
The north London giants are currently willing to offer the player with a £250,000-a-week contract, but this still appears to be below Ozil's weekly wage demands of £300,000.
According to The Star, the World Cup winner is leaning towards a return to the Spanish La Liga with Barcelona open to matching his expectations.
The Spanish champions had previously courted interest in Ozil prior to him joining Real Madrid in 2010, and it is understood that they could revive their interest this summer with Andres Iniesta approaching the latter stages of his career.
Despite his average form of late, Ozil has still managed 10 goals and 11 assists in all competitions for the FA Cup finalists this season. He currently has just over a year left on his previous deal.
