Griezmann to United almost done?

Manchester United appear to be closing in on the signing of Antoine Griezmann after having agreed personal terms with the Atletico Madrid forward.

The France international has been heavily tipped to join the Old Trafford outfit in the summer, and according to The Sun, the player has decided to link up with the Red Devils after the grueling defeat in the Madrid derby.

Griezmann was initially reluctant to express his desire to leave Atleti, but their 3-0 mauling at the hands of rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League, appears to have urged him to push for a new challenge.

The former Real Sociedad man has settled on wages of around £280,000-a-week with United set to cough up an £89m sum in order to push through the proposed transfer.

Griezmann has managed to net just 16 goals during the ongoing campaign, but he is nevertheless regarded as a long-term prospect for United, who is more than capable of reviving his old form.

The move for the Frenchman is likely to place further doubts over the future of skipper Wayne Rooney, who has barely featured for the Mancunian giants in recent times.
