Man Utd, Arsenal in for Atleti defender
Manchester United and Arsenal in the hunt to sign Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez in the summer transfer window.
The Uruguayan international has fallen down the Atleti pecking order this season with Diego Simeone preferred to play the likes of Diego Godin and Stefan Savic in the central defensive role.
Moreover, Lucas Hernandez has also developed into a promising prospect for the Capital outfit, and this has put further pressure on Gimenez, who still has to improve his passing game.
According to The Mail, the centre-back could be the subject of Premier League interest this summer with both United and Arsenal vying for his services.
Gimenez currently has a £56m on his present contract, but it is suggested that Atleti could negotiate a far lesser sum with Simeone looking to recoup funds to spend on new recruits.
The South American ace has appeared over 80 outings for the La Liga giants since arriving from Danubio in the summer of 2013.
