Spain international David de Gea may have played his last game for Manchester United after Jose Mourinho affirmed his desire to offer opportunities to Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira.

In a report on The Mail, the Special One admitted that he will rest De Gea for the remainder of the campaign after having promised Pereira his debut in the top flight.

Romero is also expected to feature in one of two league games in order to keep him match fit ahead of the club's Europa League final against Ajax.

Initial suggestions were that De Gea could retain a role between the sticks in Stockholm, but it appears that Mourinho has already decided on Romero - starting on the night.

De Gea has been heavily linked with a £60m move to Real Madrid, and a move looks a distinct possibility in the summer with the Spaniard being slowly drifted out of the United setup.

The former Atleti man was close to joining the European champions in the summer of 2015 but a delay in processing the necessary paperwork scuppered the move on deadline day.
