Nice battle Arsenal for Nigerian striker
French club Nice are hoping to offer strong competition to Arsenal in the pursuit of highly-rated KAS Eupen frontman Henry Onyekuru.
The teenager bagged 25 goals and 14 assists for Eupen during the previous campaign, and his performances have attracted interest from several European clubs including Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach.
A recent report from Sky Sports suggested that the Gunners are planning to activate the £6.8m release clause on the Nigerian's contract once he returns from international duty.
According to The Mail, Nice are the latest club to express an interest in Onyekuru, who earned his first cap for Nigeria against Togo on Thursday.
The 19-year-old has personally revealed that the Gunners have tabled an offer for his signature, and he is hoping to fend off other club interest in order to realise his dream of playing in the Premier League.
The Super Eagles attacker is hoping to emulate the great Thierry Henry in north London after having watched him play during his childhood days.
Onyekuru mainly featured as a left-sided winger for the Belgian minnows last season and he is said to want assurances of regular first-team football wherever he plays next term.
