French club Marseille have reportedly reached an agreement to secure the signature of Monaco frontman Valere Germain.

The 27-year-old amassed 10 goals in 36 outings for the Principality outfit last term as they ended their long wait for the Ligue 1 title.

Despite this, he found himself as a regular substitute in the second half of the campaign with Radamel Falcao and Kylian Mbappe being preferred for the striking positions.

Germain has played a key role in helping Monaco return to the French top-flight, but he appears to have ended his association with Marseille confirming an agreement via their official website.

"AS Monaco and Marseille have reached agreement for the transfer of attacker Valere Germain, who will sign a four-year deal on Monday, pending a medical." the statement read.

The move to Les Phoceens is likely to improve Germain's chances of regular playing time after he grew frustrated playing second fiddle to 18-year-old Mbappe, who turned on in the second half of last season.

Germain's father had previously plyed his trade for Marseille in two separate spells, and the player is likely to receive a warm welcome at the Stade Velodrome.
