Salomon Kalou and two Frank Lampard goals were enough to put Chelsea into the last eight of the FA Cup. Huddersfield were brave, but the 3-1 scoreline was somewhat harsh as Chelsea survived a scare. Lampard also passed a century of goals for Chelsea.

Chelsea's opener arrived in the 18th minute and it was Lampard’s 100th goal for the club.

Scott Sinclair’s low cross from the right eluded the retreating Town defence and the ball fell invitingly for the England midfielder to drill a low right-foot shot into the bottom corner.

The FA Cup holders were far quicker on the ball than their lowly opponents and there was no respite for the often over-run Terriers.

Huddersfield managed a rare foray into Chelsea’s half in the 31st minute but Chris Brandon was unable to get onto Luke Beckett’s pass before Chelsea keeper Carlo Cudicini snuffed out the danger.

Returning Blues skipper John Terry was then forced to clear a shot from Phil Jevons off the goalline.

Moments later Nathan Clarke sent a 25-yard drive just wide of Cudicini’s right-hand post as they chased an equaliser.

And it eventually came on the stroke of half-time when Collins collected a pass from James Berrett and slipped the ball under Cudicini.

Kalou had a goal ruled out for offside in the 55th minute but eventually went back in front on the hour.

Lampard played a neat one-two with Kalou before firing home after his first effort had been partially saved by Matt Glennon.

Sinclair has another effort disallowed for offside before Kalou burst through in the 70th minute to slip home Chelsea's third.
