Arsenal, Barcelona on alert as AC Milan plan striker sale in January

Andre Silva news

Andre Silva to leave Milan in January?

Arsenal and Barcelona have reportedly been put on alert with AC Milan mulling over the winter sale of Andre Silva. The Portugal international joined the Rossoneri from Porto in a £33.6m deal in the summer.

Silva, 21, notched 16 goals in 32 Primeira Liga outings last term, but he has so far found no success in the Italian top-flight.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Rossoneri are considering cashing in on their young striker, who has failed to live up to his expectations.

While Silva has struggled in the Serie A, he has managed four goals in the Europa League, and it is that form which could earn him a fresh challenge.

Both Arsenal and Barcelona had Silva on their shortlist prior to his Rossoneri move, and there could be a potential tussle for his signature in the New Year.

Silva is capable of playing as either a striker or in the number 10 role, and he could be seen as a potential replacement for Mesut Ozil, whose Arsenal contract is due to expire next summer.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are presumably on the hunt for a competitor to Luis Suarez, who has struggled this term with just three goals in 11 outings.
