Darmian closing in on Juventus move

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly sanctioned the exit of Matteo Darmian prior to the 2018 summer transfer window.

The Italy international has already held negotiations with Juventus over a potential move, and according to Calciomercato, the deal is nearing a conclusion.

Darmian was impressive for the Red Devils during the backend of the previous campaign, but he has struggled to command a similar role this term with just five appearances in the Premier League.

Juventus are yet to make a formal approach for the versatile defender, but reports suggest that the Italian outfit have already finalised terms with the Italian, who has set his sights on a Turin return.

Should Darmian leave Old Trafford, Valencia's Jose Gaya has been earmarked as a potential replacement with Jose Mourinho wanting an efficient backup to Ashley Young at left-back.

Luke Shaw has been offered the chance to play deputy to Young this season, but Mourinho is unconvinced that the 22-year-old has a long-term future at the club.
