Arsenal in talks to sign Turkish defender
Arsenal are reportedly in discussions to sign Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu. The Turkey international is regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in the Bundesliga, and he has previously talked up the opportunity of playing under Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.
According to The Mail, the Gunners have begun initial discussions with Freiburg for Soyuncu, who has been identified as one of the possible options to bolster the central defensive department.
The 21-year-old has made over 45 appearances during his meteoric rise in Germany, and it is suggested that Freiburg will demand at least £30m in order to part ways with his services this summer.
Gunners head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is said to have recommended the Turkish defender, who has also been linked with the likes of AS Roma, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Aside from a new centre-back, Arsenal are also expected to pursue a new goalkeeper and midfielder during the summer in order to edge the gap to their top-four rivals.
