Cesar Azpilicueta: FA Cup not enough to save Chelsea's season
Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has confessed that the Blues' campaign cannot be termed as a success, should they go on to win the FA Cup this term.
The west London giants are pretty much of the reckoning for the top-four after playing out a 1-1 stalemate against West Ham United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The stalemates sees them 10 points behind close rivals Tottenham and Liverpool, and Azpilicueta has admitted that FA Cup glory won't save the Blues' season.
He told BBC Sport: "To get a draw at home in another London derby is really frustrating for all of us and all of the fans. It's becoming harder and harder [to finish in the top four] every game it goes on.
"We are further away then ever. The FA Cup is a massive trophy but it's not enough for us. We will try to win it but the cup will not save our season."
Chelsea have now won just three of their Premier League games since the turn of the year, and over this period, and they have been ousted out of the League Cup and Champions League.
The Blues face-off against Southampton in the league next weekend, and shortly after, they will meet once more for the FA Cup semi-final at the Wembley Stadium.
