Atletico boss delivers Diego Costa injury update ahead of Arsenal game
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has updated on the fitness of Spanish striker Diego Costa ahead of Thursday's Europa League semi-final first leg against Arsenal.
The Capital outfit have been reliant on the partnership of Costa and Griezmann since the latter's return in January but the Spaniard is likely to miss out on the Emirates trip with a hamstring issue picked against Sporting in the last round.
In a report covered by Sky Sports, Simeone appeared to rule out the marksman's involvement by saying: "The doctors will inform us but I think it won't be possible for him to be ready for Thursday's game. He will be [available] for sure in the return leg, but I think he has no chance to be [fit] for the first leg game."
Atleti suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to Real Sociedad during their recent league outing but they are still considered as the clear favourites to lift the Europa League crown.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have recently witnessed Arsene Wenger announcing his summer exit from the club and the players are likely to be motivated to deliver trophy success.
