Liverpool boss delivers fresh update on Emre Cans injury

Can to have a fresh scan on his back problem

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Emre Can is expected to have a scan on Monday to determine whether he can participate for the club before the end of the season.

The Germany international has not featured for the Reds since the 5-0 thumping of Watford in mid-March and during this period, he has been struggling with nagging back problem.

Klopp previously mentioned that Can could return to first-team action before the end of the campaign and he is now hopeful of a positive feedback following a scan on Monday.

"Emre will be assessed on Monday to check how it has improved. He has done a lot of things and it feels really good but in the end you always need a doctor to tell you: Now it's fine, now you can go again. That's the situation. I think he will have a scan on Monday and then we will know more," Klopp told The Mirror.

Can has impressed with his performances in midfield over the course of the campaign but his future at Anfield remains uncertain beyond the summer transfer window.

The German has been reluctant to extend his contract which expires next month and he appears to be leaning towards a Bosman move to Serie A holders Juventus.
