Samuel Umtiti open to Manchester United transfer

Coveted defender Samuel Umtiti remains a target for Man Utd, with club manager Jose Mourinho reportedly asking his board to approve a 50 million euro transfer for the French international centre-back. Umtiti currently plays at Barcelona; where the defender happened to be one of the stars of last season's successful campaign.

Umtiti has been linked with a transfer to Man United for several months and has even taken the time to reject talk of a move to Old Trafford.

However, comments given to a newspaper in Spain suggest that Umtiti may have changed his mind.

‘On my contract extension I have no news,’ he said. ‘I look at my phone but I have not been called so nothing has happened. ‘My situation? I don’t think it’s going to disturb me too much because it’s been going on for a few months and I had to finish a season like this. ‘I think it’s important to settle these cases before the start of the competition and for my part it will be done.’
