Arsenal trigger release clause of Sampdoria midfielder
Arsenal have reportedly agreed to trigger the release clause written into the contract of Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira. The club are keen to finalise the deal prior to the summer World Cup.
According to Sampnews24, the north London outfit are close to pursuing the services of Torreira after agreeing to activate the £22m release clause in his deal.
However, the move could be delayed by upto a week with his representative Pablo Bentancur yet to finalise his brokerage fees for the transfer agreement.
Torreira has impressed with Sampdoria over the past two seasons with his excellent ball retention skills and he is likely to slot straight into the Gunners XI next term, should a deal go through.
His escape clause is due to expire at the end of the current month and the Gunners are supposedly keen to pursue him prior to that as his valuation may increase with a strong World Cup performance.
