David de Gea agrees new United deal

Spain international David de Gea is reported to have agreed on a fresh five-year contract with Manchester United. The 27-year-old has been with the Red Devils since the summer of 2011.

De Gea has regularly been linked with a switch to Real Madrid in recent seasons but United appear to have convinced him to pen a fresh extension with the club.

According to M.E.N, the Spaniard has agreed on a new long-term deal which would prolong his stay at Old Trafford until the summer of 2023. However, the club are yet to make an official announcement regarding the extension with De Gea only expected to sign the contract following the World Cup.

De Gea has been hugely influential for United over the past few seasons where he has made multiple stellar saves and the club will now be hoping to achieve silverware success in his presence next term.

The Spaniard is expected to report late for club duty following his exploits for La Roja at the World Cup and Sergio Romero is likely to take his position between the sticks for pre-season.
