Joel Campbell to leave Arsenal for Villarreal?

Joel Campbell news

Campbell headed for Arsenal exit

Arsenal look set to sell striker Joel Campbell to Villarreal this summer, in a deal worth a reported 5.5 million euros. The Costa Rica international, who appeared in today's World Cup game against Serbia, spent last season on loan at Real Betis.

Interestingly, Villarreal have come back in for Joel Campbell, having had the striker on loan back in the 2015/16 season. Villarreal have been chasing his signature for over 12 months, according to a report from Spain.

It is understood that Campbell has grown increasingly frustrated with his lack of opportunity at Arsenal and has decided to swap the Emirates for a fresh challenge, with Spain his preferred destination.

Campbell joined Arsenal bakck in 2011, and has only played 23 games since making the move there from Saprissa. Campbell has also played on loan at Lorient, Olympiakos and Sporting CP.

Villarreal will beat Real Sociedad and Italian side Genoa to sign Campbell this summer. It is understood that newly appointed Arsenal coach Unai Emery has deemed Campbell surplus to requirements at the club.
