Chelsea and Fenerbahce are said to have opened discussions over the potential transfer of Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel.

Van Ginkel joined the Blues from Vitesse Arnhem five years ago but he has since failed to establish himself as a regular with the west London giants.

A serious knee injury scuppered the Dutchman's progress at Stamford Bridge and over the years, he has earned most of his playing time on loan with PSV Eindhoven.

According to TalkSPORT, Van Ginkel could be offered a permanent route out of the Blues with Fener having begun discussions over a possible summer deal.

The Istanbul outfit have recently recruited Philip Cocu as their new manager and the Dutchman is keen to be reunited with Van Ginkel after having worked together at PSV in the past two seasons.

Van Ginkel contributed 14 goals and four assists for PSV during the previous league campaign as they went on to claim their third Eredivisie title in four seasons.
